When I'm too tired to write - which doesn't happen often - I design. I do go through periods of I want to design and crochet and other times I want to write. Since I just published nine crochet patterns, you can see how I have been in a crochet mood. Part of it was necessity - gifts to make and part of it was a need to crochet.
At the same time, the writing never stops. A phrase will stick in my head and won't go away until I write about it - whether it is a scene for a book or a poem. Other things stick in my head too. I've got an afghan pattern I have been working on which I want to go buy yarn for but won't until there are funds. I want to set aside everything else and work on this pattern. I can see it in my head and until I get it down, it will stick there.
If I could create full time, I could accomplish more but reality is I have a day job to pay my bills. Fortunately, my day job also provides me with inspiration for characters and situations and more.

Fun Versus Work (5/26/17)
I have the feeling I'm going to be struggling with balancing out the need to have down time while I also have a long long list of things to get done.
If you're not being rejected, maybe you're not trying hard enough
